  • Has the backpack been modified in any way? Yes. No.
  • Find out how the backpack has been modified, as this may affect the warranty..
  • What is the issue you are having with the backpack? The backpack is not working/not pumping correctly. The backpack is leaking. The backpack is not holding its charge/is not charging. Something has broken. A replacement item already sent has not fixed the problem.
  • In what way is it not working? The backpack is not pumping at all, with the switch in either position. The backpack is not pumping with the switch in one position. The pump is not turning off. The pump is not pumping very powerfully. The pump is very noisy. The flow controller is not adjusting the flow rate (when switched to flow controller setting).
  • Please could you send us a short video of the backpack making the noise. (Once diagnosed by Alex, if it is deemed that the pump is faulty, we would offer to send a replacement pump & 2 quick connectors, or have the pump back at the client's expense - when fault is confirmed, we will refund reasonable return postage costs.).
  • Have you checked the backpack with a pole plugged in? Is the pole connector fully pushed in? Yes. No.
  • Please check again with the pole properly attached. This is important as many returned backpacks are found to be fine, but the pole connector was not properly pushed in..
  • Is the battery charged? When was it last charged? What does the voltmeter show? Yes, fully charged. Not sure.
  • Charge the backpack first, then see if it works..
  • Plug the charger in. Does the backpack pump now? Yes. No.
  • ALEX.
  • Does the voltmeter light up while the charger is plugged in? Yes. No.
  • The pump or pump wiring is at fault. Remove the base by undoing the 6 screws, and check for a loose connection from the voltmeter to the pump. If found, please take a photo and send this to us. (If client is unable/unwilling to fix themselves, then we would arrange for backpack to be collected at our expense for repair.).
  • Is the fuse blown? Yes. No.
  • Replace the fuse, and the backpack should now work..
  • This is likely to be a loose/broken connection. Remove the base by undoing the 6 screws, and check for a loose connection from the voltmeter to the pump. If found, please take a photo and send this to us for a decision..
  • Which position is not working? Flow controller. On/off.
  • We can send you a replacement on/off switch & 3 quick connectors, which should solve the problem. (If client is unable/unwilling to fix themselves, then they can return at their cost - when fault is confirmed, we will refund reasonable return postage costs.).
  • Does the backpack work when you turn the flow controller dial on? Yes. No.
  • Then there is no fault with the backpack..
  • We can send you a replacement flow controller & 3 quick connectors, which should solve the problem. (If client is unable/unwilling to fix themselves, then they can return at their cost - when fault is confirmed, we will refund reasonable return postage costs.).
  • Remove the base by undoing the 6 screws, and check for leaks after the pump. If is is leaking on the outlet, then the jubilee clip will need tightening. Does this solve the problem? Yes. No.
  • No further action needed..
  • You will need to adjust the pressure switch. Undo the screw holding the pump feet in place, pull the pump slightly out, and then undo the central end screw on the pump to make it more sensitive. Try unscrewing 2 turns at a time until the pump turns off within 5-10 seconds. Does this solve the problem? Yes. No.
  • No further action needed..
  • Then you will need a new pump. We can send you a replacement pump & 2 quick connectors, if you are happy to fit this yourself, or you can return at your cost - when fault is confirmed, we will refund reasonable return postage costs..
  • Try using the backpack with the charger plugged in. Does the backpack now pump well? Yes. No.
  • Is your backpack more than 6 months old? Yes. No.
  • CHECK.
  • Remove the base by undoing the 6 screws, and check all the connections between the battery and the pump. Do they appear okay? Yes. No.
  • The battery has been damaged by over-use or poor charging. You will need to buy a new battery..
  • ALEX.
  • Remove the base by undoing the 6 screws, and check if there are any loose connections visible. Can you see loose connections anywhere? Yes. No.
  • Please send us a photo of this. (Once visual confirmation is received, then we would arrange for backpack to be collected at our expense for repair.).
  • Then you will need a new pump. We can send you a replacement pump & 2 quick connectors, if you are happy to fit this yourself, or you can return at your cost - when fault is confirmed, we will refund reasonable return postage costs..
  • Has the backpack been working previously, or is this not working on a brand new backpack? Previously working. Brand new backpack.
  • We can send you a replacement flow controller & 3 quick connectors, which should solve the problem. (If client is unable/unwilling to fix themselves, then they can return at their cost - when fault is confirmed, we will refund reasonable return postage costs.).
  • Switch the on/off switch to the other setting. Does the flow controller now work? Yes. No.
  • There is no fault..
  • We can send you a replacement flow controller & 3 quick connectors, which should solve the problem. (If client is unable/unwilling to fix themselves, then they can return at their cost - when fault is confirmed, we will refund reasonable return postage costs.).
  • Where is the backpack leaking from? The outside of the tank. Inside the backpack. Around the lid.
  • Please could we have a photo/video of the leak. (If clearly seen to be leaking in photo/video, then arrange a replacement backpack to be sent at our cost - unless the photo shows damage to the tank, in which case we can sell a replacement tank to the client.).
  • Send us a photo of the leak. (Check the photo - where is the leak coming from?). From a hose. From the outlet at the base of the tank outlet.
  • Tighten the relevant hose clip and the problem will be solved..
  • This is caused by swarf from the tank hole not allowing the rubber o-ring inside the outlet fitting to make a good seal. You can easily fix this by removing the hose from the base of the outlet (this pulls off) and unscrewing the outlet with a spanner while holding the strainer from inside the tank. Clean any rough edges to the hole or swarf across the rubber o-ring and re-assemble. (If client is unable/unwilling to fix themselves, then they can return at their cost - when fault is confirmed, we.
  • Are you certain that the lid is not being cross-threaded? Yes. No.
  • Send us a photo of the top of the tank with the lid removed and also inside of the lid showing the seal. (If the photos show no damage or obviously misplaced seal, we can send out a replacement lid.).
  • If the lid is cross-threaded then this will be the cause of the leak..
  • Is only 1 red light showing on the voltmeter? Yes. No.
  • Plug the backpack into the charger and switch the backpack on. Does the voltmeter still show only 1 red light? Yes. No, it now shows the green light.
  • ALEX.
  • So the backpack is switching quickly to green after being plugged in. Is the backpack working? Yes. No.
  • Then the backpack is simply fully charged and there is no fault..
  • Check the fuse. Does this need replacing? Yes. No.
  • Replace the fuse and the backpack should work..
  • There is probably a wire loose or a break between the charger input and the battery. We will arrange collection of the backpack at our cost to repair/replace..
  • Is the backpack switching quickly to green after being plugged in? Yes. No.
  • What is showing on the voltmeter? (Give results to Alex for analysis.).

  • What has broken? The on/off switch no longer clicks between positions. The strap/strap hook.
  • We can send you a replacement on/off switch & 3 quick connectors, which should solve the problem. (If client is unable/unwilling to fix themselves, then they can return at their cost - when fault is confirmed, we will refund reasonable return postage costs.).
  • Send us a photo of the break. (Once visual confirmation received, send replacement parts.).
  • Have you used the Scotchlok connectors we sent with the replacement item? Yes. No.
  • ALEX.
  • We can only consider the issue further if the item is fitted with the connectors we sent out..
