  • What is the general problem? Job isn’t showing up when they swipe their card at the printer. Job prints in black and white even though it was printed from a color printer.. Job prints, but in the wrong format.. An error sheet prints instead of a print job.. User is locked on terminal..
  • This appears when the patron is logged onto another printer, as patrons can only be logged onto one printer at a time. Logging out on the other printer should solve the problem..
  • Pull up their printing queue in Pharos. Does the job show up there? Yes. No.
  • Is the job listed as Campus Color and they tried to print from a B&W printer? Yes. No.
  • .
  • .
  • What computer are they printing from? Library Computer. Personal Computer.
  • Go over to the computer and make sure they are printing correctly. If that isn't the problem, what kind of file is it? PDF. Not PDF.
  • Have them email the file to our desk and try to print it from there..
  • .
  • It's possible the job expired and needs to be sent again. Jobs sometimes only stay on the queue for 2-3 hours. If they sent it recently, did they send it by email or through the Pharos software? Email. Pharos.
  • .
  • Does the window open for them to enter their netID and job description? Yes. No.
  • They may need to clear their print queue. If you don't know how to do that, restarting their computer will do it automatically. It may be easier to use a library computer at this point..
  • Are they connected to the internet? (Check by trying to go to a few websites, not just by if they are connected to wifi.). Yes. No.
  • .
  • .
  • Did they send the job to the CampusBW queue? (You can check this in Pharos if they send the job again. Look under the "Print Group" column.). Yes. No.
  • Make sure the job is originally sent in the CampusColor queue. Some programs will convert it to grayscale otherwise, so changing the print group in Pharos doesn't always work..
  • Is the document a PDF? Yes. No.
  • There is a grayscale option in Acrobat that you should make sure is unchecked. See picture to the left for details..
  • In many programs, like Microsoft Office products, there is a grayscale option that may be enabled. Look for that or google it..
  • Is it a PDF? Yes. No.
  • Convert to a PDF and then try to print it again. If that doesn't work, go back up the decision tree to the "Yes" option..
  • Have them email it to us and print it from one of our own computers. Did that work? Yes!. No.
  • cool.
  • Try to save it as some other file type (open the PDF and go to File > Export to... and select an option) and print that. Some recommended formats are Word or an image type. With the image type, you'll have to select all images and then print..
  • What is the error? xshow. image. other.
  • Save it as a PDF and then try to print it. If it is already a PDF, export it as image files (open the PDF and go to File > Export to... > Image and select an option) and print that. If the file is multiple pages, you'll have to select all images and then print..
  • Are they printing from a Mac Computer? Yes. No.
  • Have them send it again in the B&W queue, but print it from a color printer. If this doesn't work, go to the solutions for a non-Mac computer..
  • Try printing from a different computer, saving it as a PDF first, or printing from a different printer..
  • What type of file is it? PDF. Other.
  • Try to save it as some other file type (open the PDF and go to File > Export to... and select an option) and print that. Some recommended formats are Word or an image type. With the image type, you'll have to select all images and then print..
