From SAAS "Different types of care experience can be described in different ways, and often this has changed over time. If you're not sure if your care experience or the placement type is eligible for support, contact us for further advice. Care could have been provided by a Local Authority (Council), a religious organisation or charity. Depending on when you were in care and the circumstances, the setting could have been called specific names such as a List D school, a Borstal, a close support.

Care experienced students studying full-time courses below HNC level can apply through the College for the FE Care Experienced Bursary. This is £202.50 per week with an additional amount for travel added if you live more than 2 miles from your campus. Students who have been in care at any time are eligible to apply. You will need to provide a letter from your Social Worker to confirm that you have experienced care. Don’t worry if you’re not sure, we can help you to access the right support. .
